We Do Kid's ART.

Hello again. Studio 212 also loves to teach art classes for kids.  We are proud to introduce summer camps for kids!  Scroll down for a few of our upcoming classes...

Calling all young aspiring artists—discover a world of inspiration and creativity at Studio 212 Summer Art Camp! In our weeklong, age-appropriate classes, children engage in a variety of hands-on art activities, learning techniques, expanding their artistic vocabulary and developing their creative process. The themes change each week so campers may register for more than one session at a discounted price. Campers will be placed in small groups (max 8) during camp to ensure that they receive personalized attention. No previous art-making experience necessary!

2019 Summer Camp

Young Storytellers Art Camp: 6-10

Instructor: Allison Payne

In this kids camp, we will be using our creative imagination to tell a fantastical story

through designing 3D sculpture creations, playwriting and puppet shows. Students will create a character and outline their unique personality. We will create a paper mache puppet form of their character, painted and put in costume. We’ll pair up in groups to write a skit and design a backdrop of the world their characters live in. Finally, students will act out their skit, bringing their characters to life!

POP! Art 6-10

Instructor: Allison Payne

POW! SWISH! WHAM! Do you love colorful cartoon comic characters and superheroes?

So did famous Pop Art artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Romero Britto and Keith Haring! In this camp you will make artwork that POPS! We’ll do comic-book style drawings and paintings, as well as 3D creations that burst with color and energy. We’ll even cartoonify our own self-portrait in a Pop Art style!

*PHOTO PERMISSION NECESSARY FOR SELF-PORTRAIT

Join the Circus! 6-10

Instructor: Raquel Roy

Join us to create some exciting and colorful art projects that are inspired by the big top! From 3D sculptures to textured, colorful paintings, kids will get to experience everything from the circus without having to do any tightrope walking. This may be the most exciting summer camp yet, so don’t wait to sign –up!

Crazy Crafts: 6-10

Instructor: Allison Payne

This camp is centralized on the exploration of a wide variety of art mediums - you won’t find a camp more freeing and intuitive than this one! We will explore what abstract art means through dripping art intentionally like Jackson Pollock, or losing ourselves in the swirling colors of a fluid paint pour project. We will talk about composition and color theory, then put our new knowledge to the test by creating mixed media sculptures. This camp is full of sensory assignments for students who love getting messy and free with art.

Animal Kingdom 6-10

Instructor: Allison Payne

Are you obsessed with creating animals in art? Then get ready, this is a camp full of

unique animal projects. Using real-life animals and our imagination, we will find

inspiration from under the sea, in the jungle, the deep forest and the wild plains of Africa.

We will draw paint, sculpt and use mixed medias to make all sorts of creatures come to

life!

Paint with the Masters 11-16

Instructor: Raquel Roy

We all know that we can learn from past, right? In this 4 day course, kids will be learning from past master artists such as Van Gogh, DaVinci, Monet, and MORE! What better way to learn classic techniques than from the Master’s themselves! Each day kids will work on learning a different technique using paint.

Portrait Painting 11-16

Instructor: Allison Payne

Students will learn how to create realistic portraits starting with the proportions and anatomy of the head, and how to draw from a reference photo. We'll also learn how to paint the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears with monotone paint to practice value and brushwork. We'll then put our new knowledge to the test by painting a whole portrait in full color.

Impressionists on the Move 11-16

Instructor: Allison Payne

This Summer camp will consist of delightfully colorful projects with inspiration from many Impressionist greats including Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Cezanne and more. Students will also be ready to create on the move with their personally decorated pochade paint boxes, just like true plein air impressionist painters. We’ll learn how to use them by painting subjects outdoors “en plein air”. All the projects they take home from this camp will be colorful keepsakes.

Storytellers Art Camp: 11-16

Instructor: Allison Payne

In this camp, we will be diving deep into our creative imagination to tell a story through

pictures. We will be creating characters that come alive through story and visual depictions of their surroundings. Students will create their heroes’ story by answering questions about each hero’s strengths and weaknesses, their friends and nemeses, and ultimately, their life’s greatest quest. Through drawing lessons, storyboarding, scenery design and watercolor paintings, we will have a character and their story come alive before our eyes like a movie.
